KrisFlyer Saver vs Advantage vs Access, explained plainly
In November 2025 Singapore Airlines made its biggest change to KrisFlyer in years: award rates rose 5–20%, and a third pricing tier called Access joined the familiar Saver and Advantage awards. If your points suddenly seem to buy less, this is why. Here is the plain-language version.
The three tiers in one table

The trap is Access. Because it guarantees availability, it is the tier you will be quietly nudged toward — and on popular dates it can cost 40% or more above Saver for the same seat. Access rates were adjusted again in March 2026, and the direction of travel is clear: SQ is moving toward demand-based pricing, and the fixed Saver award is becoming the prize.
What this means in practice from KUL and SIN
A SIN–Tokyo return in business typically runs 58,000–76,000 points depending on tier and date. From KUL via SIN, expect 64,000–82,000. The spread within those ranges is mostly the Saver-to-Access gap — which is exactly why any tool or guide quoting you one fixed number for a KrisFlyer award is already out of date.
The three rules that protect your points
One: hunt Saver first, always, and set your calendar for the 355-day booking window. Two: if only Access shows, check a different date or a partner program before paying the dynamic premium — the same cabin to the same city is often cheaper via Enrich or Asia Miles.
